Robin is having issues calling Barney Stinson her boyfriend. Barney is also having issues acting like a boyfriend [since he has never really been one], until Ted tells him that he risks losing her. Barney cares enough that he asks for Ted's advice on how to be a better boyfriend to Robin.
Over the next few weeks Barney transforms into the perfect boyfriend, and Robin becomes convinced that he must be cheating on her. As Lily and Robin debate this theory, Marshall ends up spilling the beans. Turns out Barney is "cheating" on Robin; not with another girl, but on their relationship by attending Ted's class on "Robin 101", a.k.a. how to date Robin Scherbatsky.
Some of the highlights of Robin 101 include:
- don't cry in front of her...4 times...in the same night
- Robin's top 10 facial expressions and what they mean
- topics to distract an angry Robin [the Canucks playoffs, proper gun care, and penguin mating rituals]
- Robin's surprising erogenous knee zones [which turn out to be false]
- when you see Robin's angry face, run the other way
Robin is angry that Barney is getting cliff notes on their relationship, and busts in on class. In the end, Barney finally admits he asked for tips cause he was scared she would leave him, prompting her to call him "an idiot" [which means she loves you; when she says she "loves you" that means she's already broken up with you in her mind]
Not much happened this week for Marshall and Lily, unless you count meeting Mabel [a barrel that functioned as Marshall's college nightstand until Lily convinced him she was allergic to it].
My Rating: 7/10
