DEXTER RECAP: 4.2 "REMAINS TO BE SEEN"

Dexter is hanging upside down in his wrecked SUV in the aftermath of last week's crash. The rescue team extracts Dex to load him into an ambulance; however, all Dexter can think about is the dead body in the back of his vehicle. He knows it is only a matter of time before they discover the grisly remains.

Later on at the hospital, the Doctor recommends that Dexter stay overnight for observation as he has sustained a concussion, which means no sleeping for 12 more hours. [Just what the sleep-deprived Dexter needs]. Rita shows up and Dexter tells her they can leave - after all, he doesn't have time to sit around the hospital, he has a body to hide before his dark passenger is unmasked to the public.

All Dexter wants to do is retrace his steps to find the missing Benny bags, but he is continuously distracted by work, including discussions with Lundy and Quinn [whom he caught pocketing the victim's money from the hotel safe], a new Vacation Murder Crime scene to analyze, mandated work overtime, an angry Rita [for working too much].
It also turns out his concussion is more serious than he thought, as he continues to have memory loss regarding where he stashed Benny along with dizziness and more conversations with the Harry ghost.

LaGuerta and Angel are still playing house but keeping the affair separate from work. Angel's feathers get ruffled at work when Lt. LaGuerta undermines his authority by taking the lead on the Vacation Murders. They go back and forth on the status of their relationship [and the mini blinds].

Deb is still working the Bathtub murder from last week by pulling the file on the man convicted of killing the 1st Bathtub victim 30 years ago. Turns out he was recently released from prison and with the MO [and address] being identical, she decides to haul him in for questioning. Deb and Lundy interrogate the suspect and discover that he was innocent of the original crime, but took the blame because the evidence was stacked against him in trial. Plus he has an alibi for the current bathtub murder, which pretty much puts him in the clear. Lundy wants to continue to discuss the case over dinner: Deb thinks it is to worm his way back into her life and tells him about Anton, but it turns out he is strictly interested in the solving these murders and reveals his TK theory.

Meanwhile, the TK is cruising for his next victim, which he finds in brunette single mom. He uses a stray dog nicknamed Checkers to introduce himself to Tarla and notes where she lives as he plots his next move.

Dexter analyzes the blood from the crime scene and found a STD in the blood that traced him back to a suspect, so his job is done. Now one more detour back to the kill scene. Dexter figures he must have hid the body there since he didn't have time to dispose of it. He finds a stray drop of blood on the ring floor, and suddenly remembers he stuffed the body in the punching bag and suspended it above the ring. He disposes of the body and makes his way home, where he will finally get some sleep. And just as he closes his eyes, the baby starts crying. Dexter opens his eyes and mutters "F*ck"

And tune in next week to see if Dexter finally gets any sleep....

My Rating: 8/10
